Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people, living for today....
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too
Imagine all the people, living life in peace....
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people,
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday that you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
In my own mind, John Lennon wrote this song to end all wars, prejudice, racism, and fights amongst the people of this earth. Lennon suggests that if we imagine as though there are no dividers between countries, no "mine" or "yours" possessions, and no harsh views upon our brother's religion or life style, then there will be no need for war or hatred. Lennon suggests that a world full of peace is best for everyone on this earth, not just the 'dreamers' who believe. And I for one, believe him.
